NEWS: Volvo ‘twister’ spot takes top honours at D&AD ceremony

Abbott Mead Vickers BBDO and Tony Kaye took home the most pencils for the second year running at the D&AD awards in London this Wednesday.

Abbott Mead Vickers BBDO and Tony Kaye took home the most pencils for

the second year running at the D&AD awards in London this Wednesday.



Unlike last year, when only silvers were given out, this year’s ceremony

produced one gold award-winner - the Volvo ‘twister’ spot - which netted

Kaye the top honour in the direction category.



The Volvo ad also scooped four silvers, the same number awarded to Paul

Marciano Advertising’s commercial for Guess jeans, which was directed by

Andy Morahan through Great Guns.



The two outstanding winners were both honoured in the category of TV

commercial longer than 60 seconds, cinema advertising and editing, while

Guess landed a silver award for direction, and Volvo for cinematography.



Lowe Howard-Spink took home three silvers for its Olympus Cameras press

campaign, which bagged two individual art direction pencils and one for

best consumer magazines campaign.
