NEWS: WCRS develops new marketing director role to boost brand

WCRS has appointed its first marketing director to develop and foster the agency brand.

WCRS has appointed its first marketing director to develop and foster

the agency brand.

Simon Toaldo, who has been with WCRS for seven years, will combine the

roles of looking after client services, new-business development and

promoting and consolidating the WCRS brand. He explained that combining

all three roles would mean that promises made in a pitch could be

delivered more effectively during the operation of the account.

Toaldo said that his brief to improve internal communications would help

the agency to achieve a clearer vision of what it stands for. ‘By fusing

business development with client services, we’re creating a powerful

structure to deliver the brand to existing and new clients,’ he

explained.

Toaldo joined WCRS as an account director in 1989, and worked his way up

the comp-any’s hierarchy to client services director on the back of his

contribution to the Bell’s Whisky, Carling Black Label and Canon

accounts.

Before that, he spent a year at GGT, where he was responsible for

Holsten Export, Honeywell and the COI.

Toaldo began his career in advertising at Arc Advertising, joining

straight after completing a business studies degree.

He then moved on to Davidson Pearce, where he worked as an account

manager on the Terry’s Chocolate Orange and All Gold and Krona margarine

accounts.

The managing director of WCRS, Stephen Woodford, said he was delighted

with the appointment, which became effective this week. ‘Simon will

ensure that the brand - and how it is managed - will be widely

understood,’ he commented.

1 Why creative people have lost their way

What better way to kick off the inaugural issue of Campaign's monthly print offering than with another think piece on the current failings of our industry, written by an embittered, pretentious creative who misses "the way things used to be"...
