Whitbread is giving a second slice of business to a start-up agency that

opened for business only five months ago.

HBA Advertising has been appointed to handle the promotion of

Whitbread’s Hogshead chain of pubs specialising in cask ales.

Whitbread was one of the founding clients of HBA, which was set up at

the beginning of February by Stuart Hardy, the former planning director

of Clark and Taylor, and Mike Birkinshaw, its former creative director.

The new assignment comes on the back of HBA’s existing work for two

other Whitbread operations - Tavern Venues and Town Houses - which are

aimed primarily at younger drinkers, and the Pitchers chain of themed

sports bars.

Kevin Price, the Whitbread Inns trade director, cited HBA’s ability to

‘plan strategically and set our brands on the right creative track’ as

the reason for appointing the agency.

Budgets for the account remain undisclosed.
