The domestic appliance manufacturer, Zanussi, is offering Internet
designers the chance to show off their work online in a virtual gallery
located on its soon-to-be-launched site.
The interactive gallery, in keeping with Zanussi’s ‘appliance of
science’ slogan, will feature 16 of the best European examples of
design, animation, games and the use of sound on the Internet.
Each piece of work will be displayed for a month and the company is
hoping that young designers and students will make it a focal point on
the World Wide Web for displaying and viewing next-generation Internet
The site, developed for Zanussi by the new-media outfit, DNA
Communications, launches on 1 September. It will also feature both
customer service and new product information from the company.
Visitors to the site will be asked to rate the work in the gallery, and
the most popular will be awarded a pounds 1,000 prize.
Chris Perry, marketing director of DNA, said: ‘The site allows us to
help position Zanussi as the owner of a unique content that shows the
best work being developed on the Net. If you want to see animation or
play online games, this will be the place to come.’
