- The Newspaper Publishers Association has elected Jeremy Deedes, managing director of the Telegraph Group, as its next chairman.

The appointment, which has immediate effect, sees Deedes replace Stephen Grabiner, the chief executive of Express Newspapers, who is set to depart the industry shortly to take up the role of chief executive of British Digital Broadcasting.

Grabiner was only appointed chairman of the NPA in November last year, actively taking on the role in December when he took over from Sir Frank Rogers, a director of the Telegraph Group. Rogers had chaired the NPA since 1990.
