Newsquest’s new-media division has been working with ICL since 1997,
when it launched the classified service ADHunter. This has since
rebranded as Fish4 and now carries classified ads from 80 per cent of
the UK’s regional press titles. ShoppersWorld will be linked to Fish4

Iain Aiken, chairman of Newsquest’s new-media division, said: ’Retailers

The new initiative offers access to revenue streams previously

’Many small- and medium-sized retailers are unable to compete with the
huge sums of money spent by international e-commerce retailers.
Newsquest’s solution enables them to compete against these threats while
opening up whole new markets,’ he added.
Newsquest has a portfolio of 180 newspapers with a total circulation of
more than five million. It is owned by US newspaper group Gannett,
publishers of USA Today.
ShoppersWorld will initially cover Sussex, London and the Home Counties,
Oxfordshire, Wiltshire, the Midlands, Cheshire, Lancashire, the Lake
District, Yorkshire and the North East. The site goes live this month.
