nme.com is set to become the first UK online music site to launch original web-based TV and masthead radio programme channels.
The TV channel will launch this Thursday, with the broadcast of a 30-minute programme called The NME Premier Awards Show. Available on demand from 12 noon, the show will feature edited highlights of the NME Premier awards event, which took place in London on February 1.
The radio channel, Music Net Radio, will come online in the next few weeks. It will comprise a series of one- and two-hour masthead programmes put together by journalists from nme.com as well as sister IPC print titles including NME, Melody Maker, Muzik and Uncut.
The TV show will feature all the winners of the NME Premier Awards including Sir Paul McCartney and Shaun Ryder, live performances by bands including Embrace.
Broadcast in association with nme.com's webcast partner VirtueTV, it is the first of many web-based TV shows nme.com is planning to broadcast over the coming months.
