Simon Veksner and Nick Allsopp have been selected as the British

creative team to enter the Cannes Advertising Festival’s annual Young

Creatives competition.

The team, now working at Ogilvy & Mather, were chosen from a shortlist

of five drawn up from 50 teams who entered the contest, which was run

for the second consecutive year by D&AD and Pearl & Dean.

To be eligible for entry, teams had to be aged 30 or under, and had to

have been on either a D&AD creative workshop or on recent work placement

at an agency. The shortlisted teams, selected by the advertising members

of D&AD’s committee, had to present their entire portfolio to the

committee.

Allsopp and Veksner met while at Oxford University. The 30-year-old

Veksner went on to study copywriting at Watford College, while the

27-year-old Allsopp went to St Martin’s College of Art and Design.

Veksner worked at Saatchi & Saatchi for two years. In 1996 the pair

teamed up and has since worked at the Leisure Process and at Banks

Hoggins O’Shea.

At Cannes the pair will be given a creative brief. The campaign they

devise will be judged by the Cannes jury alongside other entries from

around the world. The winning team will receive an all-expenses-paid

trip to next year’s festival.
