- Ogilvy & Mather in Malaysia has lost its chairman, Tom Freitag, who has departed the company to join Nestle in Switzerland.

Freitag leaves the agency after four years and although he is not to be directly replaced, agency deputy managing director, Ng Keng Ming, is to step up to the post of managing director and will take on some of Freitag's duties.

At the same time Sonal Dabral will join O&M Malaysia as executive creative director. She joins the Malaysia office from O&M Mumbai, where she was deputy creative director.

The appointment of Ng coincides with the creation of a new management board on which he will sit. He joins Steven Palos, managing director of OgilvyOne, Grace Lowe, managing director, Ogilvy PR, and Teng Jock King, O&M group finance director. The line up will be completed shortly by the appointment of a non executive creative director.

Miles Young, chairman of O&M Asia Pacific, commented: "The management team built up by Tom Freitag is now being vested with full responsibilities for running the operations. Strengthened by a world class executive creative director, they will lead O&M Malaysia into the next century."
