It is seeking permission from Ofcom to change Radio City 2 from broadcasting "a classic soft pop music led service" to "rock hits with news, local sport and information programming". Radio City is also looking for the station to be broadcast on FM instead of AM.

For City Talk, Radio City has requested it change from "speech and soft pop-led music programming" to "a classic soft pop music-led service". It also wants the station to be available on AM instead of FM and be renamed Radio City Talk.

Radio City is also proposing to drop the number of locally-made hours it broadcasts during the week from ten to seven.

Ofcom is consulting on the proposals until 2 September.
