OMD UK dismantles planning branch to form separate hubs

OMD UK has disbanded BMP Solutions in Media and created two

separate planning hubs - OMD and OMD Gemini - to service clients with

potentially conflicting interests.



The hubs will be evenly split in terms of business and both will have

their own planning teams located on separate floors at OMD UK's

offices.



OMD and OMD Gemini will come under the jurisdiction of the agency's head

of strategic planning, Sarah Bussey.



The move is intended to reassure clients that although OMD may handle

clients with similar commercial interests, their confidentiality will be

ensured through the separate teams, hub locations and secure IT

systems.



Both planning hubs will be serviced by the centralised media buying,

direct, research, sponsorship and interactive divisions.



OMD's managing director, Steve Williams, explained that perceived client

conflict has recently become a thorny issue for the media industry as

clients expand into new markets. The move is intended to position OMD

along the lines of a management consultancy which can represent numerous

companies within the same sector through a confidential and secure

approach.



PSA's Peugeot and Citroen car marques will be serviced separately by the

two hubs.



"This development enables us to take the opportunity to consolidate our

offer behind OMD branding and ensures our clients a clear degree of

transparency, yet confidentiality, for their business," Williams said.
