Omnicom to acquire the Designory

- Omnicom Group, which owns the BBDO Worldwide, DDB Needham Worldwide and TBWA Worldwide advertising agency networks, is to acquire one of the US's largest independent design firms, the Designory.

The deal, which is being struck by Omnicom's Diversified Agency Services group, is set to be completed by the end of January following the assent of both boards of directors. The financial terms of the agreement, however, were not disclosed.

The Designory, together with its Miami-based division, Pinkhaus, works across areas including brand identity, new media, environmental, packaging and point-of-sale materials.

Omnicom's Diversified Agency Services brings together a number of independently branded companies in marketing services and speciality communications; and Communicade, a division of wholly owned and significant minority investment interests in several leading interactive and new media companies, including Razorfish and Agency.com.
