Orlov quits MoS for Evening Standard

LONDON - The Evening Standard’s new managing director Sally de la Bedoyere is taking Mike Orlov with her from The Mail on Sunday as ad director.

The Evening Standard’s new managing director Sally de la Bedoyere

is taking Mike Orlov with her from The Mail on Sunday as ad

director.

Orlov, who joins the Standard this week, replaces Sue Dear, who moved to

The MoS to fill de la Bedoyere’s position as ad director.

Orlov spent four years at The MoS, rising from travel manager to agency

sales manager. He said: ’It is a great opportunity. I want to see how

the Standard works, how it turns in the money and how we can make a

difference.’

Dear has turned to the agencies to replace Orlov and has appointed BMP

OMD planning director Chris Smith to the new role of planning manager

for The MoS.

Dear explained that Orlov’s title at The MoS was something of a misnomer

and was really a planning role rather than an agency sales role.

’Chris will be taking a long-term perspective, putting together creative

advertising opportunities,’ said Dear. ’I won’t be restricting him. I

want Chris to further develop the trust between agencies and ourselves.’
