Paragon Publishing has produced a 132-page guide to this summer’s
Euro 2000 football tournament.
The magazine hit the newsstands on 11 May with a pounds 3.99 cover
price. Paragon is hoping to sell half the 120,000 print run between now
and the start of Euro 2000 on 10 June
Guide to Euro 2000 follows in the successful footsteps of Paragon’s
guide to last year’s rugby world cup and its guide to the football world
cup two years ago.
Most of the revenue is expected to be generated from the cover price as
there are only around 17 pages of ads.
Ads were sold by Paragon’s new-business team of Charlotte Bradley and
new-business sales chief Jonathan Ginger. The team also sells DVD Review
and unspecified upcoming launches. Advertisers include Seiko, Talk Sport
Ad director Peter Cleall conceded that advertising was secondary to the
revenue mix, but claimed that advertiser interest had built up since the
1998 world cup guide. Guide to Euro 2000 has added value with a
cover-mounted 256 page book Amazing Facts of Football 2000.
