Pepsi launches music portal

The strategy seeks to strengthen Pepsi's existing association with music, which has to date included using the Spice Girls in ads and sponsoring the Chart Show, and to broaden it by making the portal a destination site for anyone in the UK who knows, or wants to know, about music.

The strategy and direction of Pepsi's latest online presence has been created by BMP interAction, while web development was done by AMX Studios.

The Pepsi Music portal features news and reviews from online magazines, Music365 and Q Online, as well as information on forthcoming gigs, venues and ticket prices, provided by Aloud.com, and a detailed music Web search facility powered by Lycos.

Users are also being invited to contribute to the portal by submitting reviews and comments, as well as chatting about music issues with other portal users.

Jason Goodman, managing director of BMP interAction, said: "Our strategy positions Pepsi as a facilitator, providing users with a service through which to gain information relevant to their interests with music in the UK."

The Pepsi Music portal can be located at www.pepsi.co.uk. Pepsi is supporting the launch with promotional activity both on and off-line.
