Pernod Ricard set to appoint Vizeum

LONDON - Pernod Ricard is set to appoint Vizeum to handle the bulk of its £50 million media planning and buying business across six key European markets.

Vizeum, which is expected to retain the £6 million UK account as part of the win, is also in discussions about handling media in France, Germany, Italy, Spain and Ireland. However, there remains a chance that a chunk of the business will go to ZenithOptimedia.

Vizeum pitched against MediaCom and ZenithOptimedia in a process led by Pernod Ricard's procurement division.

Vizeum's sister agency Carat currently handles Pernod Ricard in other major European markets outside the UK and Aegis is said to be in talks with Pernod Ricard about how the business will be structured going forward.

Vizeum has retained the UK account just a year after winning it in a UK-only pitch against the previous incumbents Media Planning Group and ZenithOptimedia.
Pernod Ricard brands include Malibu rum, Jameson, Jacob's Creek, Martell and Tia Maria.
