Peter Richardson to join directors roster for Serious Pictures

Serious Pictures has signed the commercials and film director Peter

Richardson to its roster.

Richardson, who joins with his producer, Ben Swaffer, has a portfolio of

credits across film, television and commercials. He made his name in the

80s when he directed more than 35 of the acclaimed Comic Strip films,

including Five Go Mad In Dorset.

Jack Strong Limited, the commercials production company set up by

Richardson and Swaffer three years ago, will remain open.

Before establishing Jack Strong, the two had worked at Tiger Aspect

Productions, and previously at Hungry Eye, where they had started

working together on commercials five years ago.

Richardson's film credits include 1990's The Pope Must Die starring

Robbie Coltrane, The Strike, and 1987's Eat The Rich. He has directed

commercials including the 'unprofessionals' and 'sweeney' spots for the

Nissan Almera.

He also won BTAAs for the two spots 'winner' and 'agadoo' for the

COI.

Other credits include 'wedding' for Coca-Cola, 'bunny' for Lemon Tango

and 'no entry' for Maxwell House.

Richardson's television credits include Eddie Izzard's show Lust For

Glorious on Channel 4 and Glam Metal Detectives for BBC2. He won the

Rose D'Or at Montreaux for his film The Strike, and the Best Comedy

award for Five Go Mad In Dorset.

Donnie Masters, the managing director of Serious Pictures, said: 'I'm

absolutely delighted, as I grew up watching his work, and the fact that

he's coming to the company is fantastic.'
