BT is reviewing its online media planning and buying business, currently held by the New PHD division PHDiQ.
BT, one of the UK's leading online advertisers, is inviting online agencies to tender for the business before it finalises a shortlist.
PHDiQ has handled the business for BT for more than two years. The agency has been invited to retender.
PHDiQ is responsible for BT's online media across all of its main business areas such as BT Talk, BT In Touch, BT Internet and BT Get Together. Digital media activity has included banner ads, sponsorship, WAP campaigns and digital TV.
A BT spokesman said: 'We are putting the online part of our business out to tender. This is not a statutory review but we do have a policy of reviewing our agencies.'
New PHD's strategic planning role on BT's offline media is unaffected. Earlier this year, New PHD suffered the loss of BT Cellnet's pounds 20 million account as a result of a consolidation into BT's main buying agency Zenith.
