The BBC’s review of its £5 million media account is nearing a decision. Six months since the statutory review process began, the BBC has seen all the pitches and all follow-up information has been submitted. It is believed the incumbent, MEC Manchester, remains in the running along and ZenithOptimedia.

Final-stage meetings are taking place this week for the Waitrose creative account. It is now down to four agencies: Adam & Eve/DDB, Creature London, Lucky Generals and WCRS. CHI & Partners and J Walter Thompson are no longer in the running. ISBA is working on the review process.
The creative agencies pitching for the Twitter advertising account are 101, Abbott Mead Vickers BBDO, Bartle Bogle Hegarty and Lucky Generals. Adam & Eve/DDB was asked to take part but was unable to do so owing to its relationship with Google.

Media agencies are on high alert amid hopes that the recent reviews for Sainsbury’s and Tesco could encourage other big supermarkets to rethink their current arrangements. Asda (handled by Dentsu Aegis Network), Lidl (M2M) and Morrisons (MEC) are all being watched closely.
