Pitch Update

Molson Coors has shortlisted four agencies to pitch for its Carling creative account. Rainey Kelly Campbell Roalfe/Y&R, McCann London, Fallon and VCCP have received the brief from ISBA. Carling's incumbent, Beattie McGuinness Bungay, was recently hired by Molson to handle Grolsch and Corona Extra.

The Swinton advertising pitch crawls onward, with the work still in final research. Though they haven't been given a timeline on the result, the three shortlisted agencies - BMB, Beta and Isobel - should not have to wait too much longer to be put out of their misery.

Agencies swotting up on their porcine knowledge for the Agriculture and Horticulture Development Board's pitch to promote all things pork will be pleased to see it's finally gathering pace. Following written submissions, the AHDB is at the shortlisting stage and is whittling down its roster of creative and media agencies, comprising BMB, JWT, Archibald Ingall Stretton, The Red Brick Road, DDB UK, TBWA\London, MPG Media Contacts, OMD UK and UM. The shortlisted agencies will then receive a brief.

Agencies have been pitching for the General Mills media account this week with MEC, UM, Vizeum and ZenithOptimedia vying for the business. The client is also considering UK-only pitches, with the possibility of splitting the business between mainland Europe and the UK, something that PHD is hedging its bets on as it's presenting a UK-only solution. Ed Culf, General Mills' marketing director, said: "Potentially we would appoint a pan-European agency but it doesn't necessarily have to be that way - it's about getting a great deal and great thinking."
