Pitch update

Freeview is holding credentials meetings this week with agencies vying for its £10 million advertising account.

The free TV service has indicated to competing shops that it is keen to talk to smaller, non-network agencies.

The international Bacardi pitch is hotting up, with Wieden & Kennedy and WPP's New York shop Johannes Leonardo in a final tussle for the business. Pitches will be held on 16 May. The incumbent on the account is the WPP network Y&R.

Ad agencies are finally due to find out who has emerged victorious in the long-running Tourism Ireland pitch. Bartle Bogle Hegarty, Publicis London, Saatchi & Saatchi and the incumbent, JWT, all remain in the running and are due to be contacted by the tourist board by the end of the week. The process has been handled by Agency Insight.

Media networks have submitted weighty RFIs for the $600 million Novartis global media review. The client has given a rough outline of chemistry meetings scheduled for June, with presentations across all regions in August and a decision by September.

Agencies are busy guessing which FMCG company is set to review through the auditor Fairbrother Lenz Eley. Agencies have been told a pitch will happen but don't know the brand yet. Some seem to think it's a dairy company that is looking to appoint a media agency to work in the UK and Italy.
