Pitch update

The Homebase pitch reaches its conclusion on Monday as Leo Burnett and Clemmow Hornby Inge attend final meetings. This has been an epic. Will we have a winner next week? Don't hold your breath.

Barclays Capital is holding pitches on Wednesday. Unlike Homebase, this has been slick. It parted with Saatchi & Saatchi at the end of May, was seeing agencies at the start of June, and could have a result by the beginning of July.

Word is that the next stage of the Halifax pitch will be known next week. At the moment, the big question is whether Fallon's esoteric creative route has put it out altogether or is enough to defeat the odds. Otherwise, Delaney Lund Knox Warren & Partners and DDB are final contenders.

Health Lotteries is still clad in state secrecy, but we've managed to uncover a shortlist. Agencies pitching are understood to be VCCP, WCRS, DLKW & Partners and M&C Saatchi.

PHD and Starcom are battling for the final stages of the Cadbury media pitch. Expect a result imminently.

Also on a knife edge are the Tourism Australia account (fought out between Saatchi & Saatchi and DDB) and MBNA's media pitch (Arena BLM, Universal and Mediaedge:cia).

After CHI's clever spot for Drench, several bottled water brands are searching for a similar shot of glory. The latest? Minton Spring Water (no, we hadn't heard of it either). It certainly backs itself, contacting some of London's most prolific hotshops. Just don't expect much in the way of cash.

1 Why creative people have lost their way

What better way to kick off Campaign's relaunch than with another think piece on the current failings of our industry, written by an embittered, pretentious creative who misses "the way things used to be"...
