Pitch Update

Two weeks in advertising can be a very long time, especially if you're Nationwide.

For instance, your agency could resign your business, you could put together a provisional pitchlist, your head of brand strategy could leave and you could find yourself scrapping your review. Nationwide is now thought to be trying to woo back its old agency, Leagas Delaney, which has come out of the whole debacle rather well.

Vodafone, meanwhile, has moved swiftly to engineer a head-to-head pitch between the incumbent, OMD, and Carat for its £58 million UK media planning and buying business. The two agencies, recently engaged in a battle for the consolidated Renault/Nissan media business (which OMD won), will lock horns again after Vodafone dropped MPG, Universal McCann and Walker Media after an initial chemistry stage.

The word on the street is that the Vodafone UK team is not keen to move the business out of OMD but you can never discount Carat, which will be supported by Aegis sister agencies such as Diffiniti.

Staying with media, MTV has put together a shortlist of agencies for its planning and buying account. The list includes Vizeum, Equinox (the incumbent) and BJK&E. The pitch is being handled through the AAR.

And finally ... research has finished on the Stella pitch, so the decision is imminent - making a happy Christmas for either Publicis or Mother.
