Pitch update

Agencies involved in the global UPS pitch have submitted RFIs, and a meeting at UPS in the US this week will decide which shops will be invited for chemistry meetings for the global creative and media accounts. Agencies are expecting to hear by the end of next week.

JWT London and Fallon, which are both competing in the global Rimmel London pitch, may have to wait longer than expected for an outcome. Senior management appointments at Rimmel have slowed things down with the process now expected to kick-off in earnest in August.

Delaney Lund Knox Warren and Karmarama have been knocked out of the Shop Direct Group pitch, leaving VCCP and Leo Burnett to go head-to-head. The pair are battling to launch the rebranded Littlewoods fashion website, called "Very". After a second round of pitches, a decision is expected today (Thursday).

BERR, the Department for Business, Enterprise & Regulatory Reform, is set to announce who has won the brief to handle an employment rights campaign next week. It's a toss-up between Chick Smith Trott, DLKW and VCCP. COI called the pitch in April.

Vodafone is holding meetings with media agencies, including the UK incumbent, Carat, Group M and OMD to decide the fate of its estimated £200 million global media planning and buying account. Carat was hired in the UK six months ago (with OMD losing the business) as part of Vodafone's "agility" programme of market-by-market reviews. Now this process could be superseded by a global appointment as Vodafone bigwigs look to increase savings.

In DM, it looks like the pitch for the Home Office's Identity and Passport account is shaping up into a tussle between some real heavyweight contenders. EHS Brann, Proximity, Tequila and Tullo Marshall Warren are all pitching for the business towards the end of this week (25-26 June), with a result expected around the end of July.
