Pitch update

There's always one client that ruins Christmas, and the Scrooge this year looks set to be ING Direct.

The online bank is about to kick off chemistry meetings ahead of a pitch for its global media planning and buying account, with agencies being asked to pitch in the days before 25 December.

The pan-European Universal Music media review gathers pace. MediaCom and Carat have finished their final meetings with individual label heads at the company, and so a result could be imminent. Both agencies will no doubt be relieved to be at the end of a tortuously long process, which kicked off in January.

And Unilever is close to announcing a shortlist for the pan-European part of its global media review. Presentations, which are being handled on a region- by-region basis, are expected to start in Europe on 1 December.

Karmarama, meanwhile, is out of the running on the PaddyPower creative pitch. It is understood the incumbent agency was not asked to repitch.

Bartle Bogle Hegarty, Saatchi & Saatchi and one other unnamed agency are vying for the business, with a result expected imminently.
