- Police have seized posters promoting Trainspotting author Irvine Welsh's new novel Filth, because they depict a pig wearing a police helmet.

The posters for the novel Filth, a derogatory term used to refer to the police, were seized from a book store in Southampton. The image of the police helmet wearing pig is also used on the novel's cover, although copies of the novel were not seized,

Hampshire police, who were responsible for the action, said officers confiscated the posters for use as possible evidence in a prosecution and that charges dealing with offensive and obscene material were being discussed with the Crown Prosecution Service.

The owner of the South coast bookstore said it smacked of censorship.
