Publicis lands £20m global Airbus advertising account

LONDON - Publicis has won the £20m global advertising account for the aeroplane manufacturer Airbus.

The agency landed the business, which was formerly at Euro RSCG, following a pitch against Ogilvy Advertising.

Publicis will handle advertising for Airbus' existing products and any launches with business-to-business and business-to-consumer work.

The thrust of the agency's first brief will be to promote the company's passenger plane, the A380. However, production of the A380 has been dogged by problems.  The model was launched with great fanfare in 2005, but final completion has been rescheduled on numerous occasions and the first plane is now not expected to be delivered until October 2007.

Publicis refused to comment.
