Publicis launches ads to recruit more social workers

LONDON - A bouncing ball and a boiling kettle are the stars in the first two ads made by Publicis to promote the social work profession for the Children's Workforce Development Council.

The ads, which consist of a still camera focusing on an everyday object with a soothing voiceover, were directed by the portrait photographer Charlie Crane and are designed to show how social workers use their surroundings and training to get people in danger to open up.

As well as attempting to rebuild the public perception of social workers, the campaign also tries to persuade career seekers and changers to think as seriously about social work as other public sector jobs such as the police or teaching.
