Publicis names Burnett's Douglas head of planning

Jonathan Campbell also joins agency from W&K to oversee the Renault account.

Publicis London has poached Kim Douglas, Leo Burnett's European executive planning director, who will take the new role of head of planning.

The agency has also plundered Wieden & Kennedy's account team, hiring Jonathan Campbell, the group account director on Honda, to run its Renault business.

Douglas will be responsible for the day-to-day running of Publicis' planning department and will report directly to the agency's group chief strategic officer, Paul Edwards.

Before working at Burnett, Douglas was a senior account planner at Abbott Mead Vickers BBDO, where he worked on accounts including Pepsi, Capital Radio and Kiss FM. In 2001, he joined D'Arcy as its European planning director, working across Mars, COI and Southern Comfort.

Campbell will report to Grant Duncan, Publicis' chief executive. He has been at Wieden & Kennedy since 2001, heading the agency's Honda and Nike accounts. He started his advertising career at Young & Rubicam in 1989, working his way up to account director on business including Ford Galaxy and Puma, KFC and London Transport. He has worked at Lowe Howard-Spink on its Vauxhall account, and at McCann Erickson.

Campbell said: "I am really looking forward to the challenge of working with a European car manufacturer for the first time and in particular with Renault."

Douglas said: "I have been really impressed by the people I have met at Publicis. Everyone shares the same vision and ambition for the agency and that was very motivating for me."

Duncan added: "Talent is a key factor in the success of our business and, in Kim and Jonathan, we have hired two people whose talent is manifested in their track records."
