De Saulles Associates, the media consultancy, is launching an online

service to give advertisers access to media campaign evaluations via the

internet. DSA currently produces about 300 evaluations a year for major

press and TV advertisers. The new service, E-v@luate, will make this

data available on a secure service via DSA’s own website.



MindShare has been appointed by BBC Music to act as a consultant to

examine media and marketing opportunities with broadcasters outside the

UK. MindShare was chosen for its research and international media

network, which BBC Music is keen to exploit to find sponsorship

opportunities.



The Millennium Parade, an outdoor event on New Year’s Day 2000, will be

available for sponsorship, and tenders should be made before 5

November.



The organisers are expecting 12,000 performers to parade through London,

and potential sponsors are being offered an 18-month programme of

activities including media promotions, advertising and competitions.



Sky News will relaunch this week with a new identity, in line with the

recent revamping of other Sky channels. The redesign includes a new

logo, set and on-air look, produced by Sky’s in-house team alongside the

post-production company, Smoke and Mirrors.



Research by Maiden Outdoor and RMS has shown that point-of-sale poster

ads outside supermarkets are increasing branded packaged goods sales by

up to 32 per cent. The research spanned eight TV regions across the UK,

using a test group of 16 stores against a control group of the same

number.



Breakfast cereal sales rose by 32 per cent and video brands by 24 per

cent.



The Asian channel, Zee TV, has been issued with a formal warning by the

ITC following repeated compliance failures in its advertising content

and scheduling. Since the end of 1995, seven breaches have been counted,

and the ITC says a key concern was the inadequacy of underlying

compliance arrangements and procedures as well as the breach itself.



TDI and Vodafone Retail have unveiled the first illuminated bus-sides

campaign, running across London on 90 double-decker buses. The

three-month campaign, devised by Bates Communications and booked by BMP

through PPL, will carry executions featuring images reversed out of

black.



Ynon Kreiz has been promoted to the new position of president of Fox

Kids Europe. Kreiz, who has been managing director of Fox Kids Europe

since its introduction in January last year, has overseen the launch of

Fox Kids channels in nine European countries.



MTV launched a new channel in Russia on 26 September. The free-to-air

customised programming service will be broadcast seven days a week in

households across Moscow and St Petersburg.



The Publishing Team is to produce a customer magazine for Royal London

Insurance after winning a pitch with the Addison Design Company against

Citigate and Redwood Publishing. The magazine is slated to be published

up to four times a year, with a print run of about 1.2 million.



Carling Premier has confirmed a five-year sponsorship deal with IPC’s

NME, giving the brewer the title ownership of NME’s music awards.

Sponsorship of the event, formerly known as the NME Brat Awards, will be

supported with above- and below-the-line activity.
