Shell is to launch a pounds 20 million global ad campaign to promote its

premium fuels and lubricants. Created by J. Walter Thompson in London,

the campaign is designed to tie in with Shell’s sponsorship deal with

Ferrari. It will break to coincide with the 1999 Formula One Grand Prix

season - General release



Campbell Distillers is to review its UK ad account for Pernod following

a global research project examining the brand. Previous creative work

was through DMB&B in Germany - Marketing Week



Grey Advertising announced a 48 per cent drop in fourth-quarter net

income, blaming the fall on decreases in client spending in Brazil and

Russia and software development losses. Net income for the year fell by

15 per cent - The Wall Street Journal



Eric Nicoli, the chief executive of United Biscuits, has been appointed

chairman of the EMI Group. Nicoli takes up the position on 1 May and

will be succeeded by Leslie Van de Walle, currently chief executive of

the McVitie’s Group - General release



Prudential has appointed Mike Sommers as consumer marketing director to

replace Clare Salmon. She left after a row over corporate strategy and

is now looking at other job offers - Marketing Week



Seagram Spirits and Wine has poached Joseph Tripodi from Mastercard

International as its new global marketing director. Tripodi joins after

ten years at Mastercard, where he was the executive vice-president of

global marketing - Marketing Week



Del Monte has appointed Neil Burchell as its new market development

director. Burchell takes over from the former European marketing

director, Gerry Roads, who resigned last month - Marketing



Fred Perry is to launch a pounds 750,000 print and poster campaign next

month. The ads, created by Spirit, feature real people who have a strong

attachment to their Fred Perry polo shirts. The ads will appear on

96-sheet posters - General release



Chris Evans’ Ginger Productions has won a contract to produce a party

political broadcast that will air after the May local council elections.

PricewaterhouseCoopers has launched its first global branding campaign

since it merged. The campaign introduces the tagline, ’Join us. Together

Stan Park, the former commercial director of Talk Radio, has been

appointed commercial director of the radio travel news supplier, Metro

Networks. Park was sacked from Talk Radio last year after a failed

J. Walter Thompson has created a global campaign for Merrill Lynch,

built on the theme of human achievement. The campaign began on 4 March

with TV spots airing from 10 March - General release.
