The Swedish agency, Forsman & Bodenfors, has scooped the pounds 20

million European advertising account for SCA Hygiene Products’ feminine

protection brands, Bodyform, Libresse, Nana and Nuvenia. The agency beat

Abbott Mead Vickers BBDO, Bartle Bogle Hegarty and Lowe Howard-Spink, as

well as several Scandinavian agencies, to the brief, which does not

Bass has appointed Mustoe Merriman Herring Levy to handle selected

drinks brands projects globally as the brewing group strives to boost

its struggling export arm, Bass Beers Worldwide. Mustoes will advertise

international brands such as Caffrey’s, Bass Ale, Hooper’s Hooch,

Adidas has poached the Unilever marketer, Rod Connors, to take over the

running of its newly integrated communications and sports department as

head of consumer marketing. The communications department was previously

run by Andy Towne, who left last month to join the US outdoor clothing

company, Helly Hansen. The sports department, which is responsible for

Virgin Radio has been fined pounds 10,000 by the Radio Authority after

it broadcast a photographer’s mobile phone number and urged listeners to

abuse him. Virgin’s owner and DJ, Chris Evans, told listeners to ring

Mel Bouzad and ’hound him until he goes toes up’ after the photographer

had been involved in a scuffle with the Oasis singer, Liam Gallagher. -

William Hague is to address the annual luncheon of the Advertising

Association on Monday 17 May at the Savoy Hotel. The luncheon will

Hamish Pringle, vice-chairman and director of marketing at Saatchi &

Saatchi, has left the agency to launch a marketing consultancy, Brand

Soul. It will provide new product development, brand and marketing

Nigel Turner, Apple’s vice-president of marketing, Europe, has quit the

computer giant without a job to go to, leaving Apple’s European general

manager, Diego Piacentini, to oversee marketing in Europe until a

The Department of Social Security is planning an awareness drive to

inform pensioners they may be missing out on benefits, and is also

considering hiring an advertising agency to create a pounds 2.5 million

campaign for the project. It is estimated that there are between 400,000

and 700,000 pensioners who do not receive the full state pension and who
