Tesco is planning to launch a credit card and revamp its store card amid

inquiries by the Data Protection Registrar into how the retailer uses

its database. The DPR is concerned that Tesco is failing to tell

customers their details will be made available to other companies when

Clearasil, the spot-cream brand, is spending pounds 25,000 to sponsor

the first concert tour by the teenage boy band, 911. As part of the

Mike Wagner, sales and marketing director at BT, has been moved to run

the company’s newly created consumer mobility division, prompting a

search for a successor. Wagner, who joined BT to replace Michael Biden

14 months ago, will be temporarily replaced by the division’s strategic

Radio Rentals has lost its marketing director, Nick Cornwell, in the

middle of a pounds 10.5 million advertising review. Cornwell, who was

with the company for nine months, will be replaced by Mike Ryan, who has

Cadbury’s is to kill off the Milk Tray man after 30 years in a bid to

breathe new life into the chocolate brand, which will be portrayed as a

’contemporary, modern gift’. A campaign, through Euro RSCG Wnek Gosper,

will feature the model, Sarah Stockbridge. Cadbury’s has also revamped

Milk Tray’s packaging. - The Sun



A Walkers ad featuring Gary Lineker and the Spice Girls has been banned

from daytime TV by the Broadcast Advertising Clearance Centre as too

sexy. The ad shows the Spice Girls chatting up Lineker. BMP DDB has made

a ten-second cutdown to be shown before 6pm. - The Express



The Euro RSCG network has lost its pan-European Reckitt & Colman

business to McCann-Erickson. The move is the final consolidation of the

household goods giant’s advertising business. The review started 18

months ago, when Reckitt cut its agency roster and divided its global
