The soon-to-be floated ecommerce company, which offers last-minute deals on everything from travel to restaurant bookings, also took the awards for best use of new media for electronic commerce and best online business.

Stelios Haji-Ioannou, the founder of the EasyGroup, which includes EasyJet, EasyBank and EasyEverything, took the Tripod sponsored new media marketer of the year award.

The Guardian won best use of new media by a media owner for its Guardian Unlimited series of websites. It beat Emap Online, for 1ski.com, and Turner Broadcasting, for the cartoonnetwork.co.uk.

Other award-winners included best online advertising, Levi's Flat Eric campaign by Lateral and Motive; best use of new media in an integrated marketing campaign, blairwitch.co.uk by Pathe Distribution/Lateral; best use of new media for consumer marketing, Howletts Wild Animal Park by Blueberry.net; best use of new media for business-to-business marketing, Space2 web site, best use of new media for customer service, London Borough of Lambeth by tmg hypermedia;

In the non web-related categories the best use of interactive TV for marketing went to Domino's Pizza Interactive TV by Quantum New Media. Dominos beat British Airways and HSBC to win the category.

Best use of CD-Rom went to Mero research enhanced CD-Rom created by Graphico New Media for BMG Entertainment. The award for best use of intranet or extranet was won by Microsoft for MS Press created by TPD and in the last non web-related cateogry the best use of interactive kiosks was won by Express Film Deposit created for Boots the Chemists by Interface.
