Ron de Pear, MindShare's client services director, is leaving the agency to pursue other interests.
De Pear, who has been with MindShare and J. Walter Thompson for 27 years, leaves just a year after being promoted to the newly-created client services post. His promotion followed the exit of Michael Quilty, managing director of MindShare Europe, in late 1998.
Appointed managing partner of MindShare Worldwide when the agency launched two years ago, De Pear was responsible for managing clients such as Kellogg, Ford, Warner Lambert and Kodak as well as heading up the agency's international department of managing partners.
During his career at JWT he was the first media person ever to be promoted to JWT's worldwide board in 1992.
De Pear said: "It is time to move on. There has never been a more exciting time to be in media and I am looking forward to the next challenges."
Dominic Proctor, chief operating officer of MindShare, commented: "We will be sorry to see Ron go. He has done much to ensure the successful launch of MindShare and we wish him every success in the future."
Nick Emery will add the client services role to his existing responsibilities as strategic development partner for MindShare Worldwide, working alongside Proctor. He will initially focus on integrating MindShare's specialist units, such as the Advanced Techniques Group, BroadMind and Mdigital, with the agency's US multinational client base.
Emery said that he would be making some changes to the structure of MindShare Worldwide, both in London and overseas. He added: "We have 25 of the top 50 worldwide accounts, so we have to organically grow what we've got. But we should also be more passionate about getting new business."
Last week MindShare announced its US operating structure with the appointment of Jean Pool as president of operations, Peter Chrisanthopoulos as president of national broadcast and programming and Ray Simko as president of strategic planning. All three will report to Irwin Gotlieb, chairman and chief executive of MindShare US.
MindShare is now present in 46 countries and plans to open a new office in Buenos Aires during the next few months.
