The Commission for Racial Equality has begun a statutory review of

its high-profile advertising account which is handled by Saatchi and

Saatchi.

The race relations body, which is using the Advertising Agency Register,

plans to reach its decision without a formal pitch. Saatchis, which has

handled the CRE’s advertising since 1994, declined to take part in the

review.

Future advertising will focus on the role of the CRE itself rather than

on individual issues such as harassment or discrimination at work.

In the past three years, Saatchis has created award-winning work for the

charity, most notably the hard-hitting ’brains’ poster which won

numerous awards last year including a gold at the Campaign Press Awards.
