Saatchi & Saatchi has scooped Monster.com Europe’s dollars 20

million pan-European advertising account after a four-way pitch.

The agency beat Abbott Mead Vickers BBDO, Euro RSCG Wnek Gosper and Lowe

Lintas & Partners to handle the advertising for the online job site.

It will be responsible for developing strategy for the brand and for

creating a pan-European campaign that is consistent with Monster. com’s

global branding.

The work will focus on TV but will be supported by radio, print and

poster advertising, aiming to drive traffic to its local sites. These

include sites in the UK, France, Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany and

Ireland.

Advertising for the UK site begins in July.

The account will be headed by Saatchis’ regional account director Anne

O’Brien.

The new-business director at Saatchis, Marcus Brown, said:’Monster.com

is an established brand which has ambitious plans for expansion across

Europe. To choose us is a great endorsement of our internet and branding

capabilities.’

The review follows the appointment of Rikke Rasmussen who joined as

European marketing director in January from BT Click and BT’s Webzone at

the Millennium Dome.

Rasmussen explained: ’The appointment of Saatchis demonstrates our

commitment to developing Monster. com as Europe’s dominant career

network.

’The team’s European experience will be invaluable as we continue our

expansion into new markets.’

The media planning and buying accounts will remain with local agencies

for the time being but Rasmussen claimed that the company planned to

centralise it in the long term.
