With his appointment, the network hopes to create better connections between the US and Europe, which, with 39 offices in 27 countries, is its most fragmented region.
Sable, who will be based in London reporting directly to the Wunderman chairman and chief executive Daniel Morel, will manage key client relationships while providing strategic counsel on Wunderman's global business.
According to Morel, the pair has developed a strong relationship over the past three years, working together on the rebirth of Wunderman.
He said: "David's extensive experience covers every part of the marketing spectrum. This makes him ideally suited to lead a region with such a diverse DNA and underscores Wunderman's deep commitment to the growing needs of our client base."
Sable will also work closely with William Eccleshare, the chairman and chief executive of Young & Rubicam and Wunderman EMEA.
Sable joined Wunderman in August 2000 as the head of the company's flagship New York office, after moving from Y&R New York, where he was the director of account management.
During the 90s, he directed the agency's United States Postal Service account, and worked on Colgate-Palmolive and Bausch & Lomb in an international capacity.
For the past three years, he has been an active member of the steering committee for the Mail Industry Task Force of the United States Postal Service and part of the Independent Mailing Industry Chief Executive Task Force.
