The agency, which was appointed without a pitch, will develop the online gaming experience for the PC title Medieval 2: Total War. Modem has been briefed to redesign and develop the series website in time for Medieval 2's November launch.
It has also been briefed to handle Sega's European digital advertising for games including Sports Interactive's Football Manager franchise. Sega Europe currently creates most of its online advertising in-house.
"Modem was engaged because it can do several things," Justin Moodie, the head of online services for Sega Europe, said. "It can produce creative that is entertaining and engaging for our customers - the heart of what a games company does. It also listens to our brief and produces work that is on time, on budget and actually delivers results."
