Sky Sports has scrapped Sky Sports News and replaced it with a

rolling channel with the look of a website.

SkySports.comTV is a 24-hour sports news channel. It features a

constantly updated border of graphics, which contains headlines,

football results, statistics such as league tables and reminders of

upcoming sports programmes on the five-channel Sky Sports network.

SkySports.comTV will not contain any onscreen advertising although

viewers will be encouraged to log on to the website, which contains

banner ads.

The site will also begin to mirror the TV channel in look and content,

paving the way for future convergence of the two media.

SkySports.comTV’s programming schedule will include high-rating shows

such as Football Update, The Last Word with Jimmy Hill, Hold the Back

Page and the Nike-sponsored Good Morning Sports Fans.

Vic Wakeling, managing director of Sky Sports, said: ’People are

comfortable with using different media to gather information. Now,

through one TV channel, viewers can catch all the main stories, whenever

they join us, right around the clock.’
