Don Sperring, the former managing director of Young & Rubicam and
chief operating officer of Western International Media, has taken a job
at the airport advertising company, Sky Sites.
Sperring joins the company, which was last week acquired by JC Decaux as
part of the Havas Media Communication group, as business development
strategist this week.
His brief will be to give a new direction to the company’s UK sales and
marketing and its product and contract development. He joins at a time
when Sky Sites’ advertising sales are up 17 per cent in the first
quarter of 1999 against the same period last year.
As well as taking charge of Sky Sites’ strategic development, Sperring
will also work closely with the company’s UK sales management, which has
undergone a reshuffle following the departure of the UK sales director,
Chris Marjoram, earlier this year.
Jonathan Tasker, Karen Bilney and Lee Lawrence have all been promoted
from sales managers to the role of sales controllers, though the sales
director post remains vacant. Sperring will work with Sky Sites
management to find a new sales director.
Before joining Sky Sites, he was at Western, where he developed the
agency’s European media network.
