Nick Smith, the new-business director of TSMS, has quit to join the
online trading company Beenz as global sales and marketing director.
Smith takes up his position this week. He will build a global sales
operation based in the UK, which will report to the Beenz headquarters
in San Francisco.
Smith will use his TV and new-media contacts to form strategic ventures
and sponsorship deals with television channels such as Sky. This should
boost the company’s presence in the TV market.
Although Smith is particularly interested in interactive TV advertising,
he will chase new business in all media.
Smith worked at TSMS - United News and Media’s TV sales house - for five
years. He joined as broadcast director looking after Grampian TV and
He took up the role of new-business director in 1998, and also assumed
the role of joint sales director for ITV2. Smith shared the latter job
across the network with David Sanderson of Carlton and Paul Masterson at
