Brown will be responsible for driving the network’s growth in the EMEA region, spearheading new business. When he starts on 1 June, he will report to Iain Jacob, the EMEA president at Starcom MediaVest Group.

As the chief executive of Y&R Geneva from June 2006 to January 2014, Brown managed an agency that served as a hub of international business for brands such as Adobe, Nestlé and Caterpillar.

At the WPP network Brown also had the additional roles of executive vice president, business development across EMEA and global managing partner of Y&R's tech practice Tech.YR.

Most recently Brown has worked with Tech London Advocates to encourage startups in London and as a co-founder of the tech consultancy 3LA.

Jacob said: "[Brown] joins us with an extremely impressive track record of client wins and, given his extensive experience, will play an instrumental role in the next phase of our transformation and helping build on our continued success."

Starcom MediaVest Group returned to a regional structure and appointed Jacob, who was previously the president of dynamic markets, as the EMEA president in January.
