Starcom names Nair to head up China/HK operations

He joins Starcom from WPP Group's media agency, Maximize Asia Pacific, based in Singapore, where he was chief executive officer.

Nair will report to Gary Brown, former head of Starcom China/Hong Kong, who is now focused on Asia Pacific expansion as executive regional director for Starcom Worldwide.

He arrives at Starcom after a 17 year long career, including 14 in Asia, almost all of which was spent with Ogilvy & Mather. He joined the agency in 1982 and has worked in its New York, Singapore, Malaysia and Hong Kong offices. In 1998 Nair became CEO of Maximize. Since then he has launched the company in Hong Kong, China, Indonesia & Thailand , attracting several high profile clients such as Hewlett Packard.

Starcom's main clients in the region are Coca-Cola, McDonald's, Procter & Gamble, Philip Morris, Disney Consumer Products, Heinz, Gucci, Regent International Hotels, Standard Chartered Bank and Smartone.

Nair officially starts as managing director of Starcom China/Hong Kong on 17 May. He will be based in Hong Kong.
