TBWA Simons Palmer has hired the former DMB&B head of account
management, Graham Deakin, to run the Chivas Regal global account and to
oversee another of its core clients, the British Heart Foundation.
Deakin was most recently at Ammirati Puris Lintas, which he joined as
head of account management in January 1997, but left before the end of
the year. He has been taken on permanently by TBWA Simons Palmer after
working freelance for the agency over the Christmas period.
Carl Johnson, the managing director of TBWA Simons Palmer, commented:
’Graham is a serious addition to the agency, and we expect him to
contribute beyond running the two pieces of business.’
Deakin spent most of his career at DMB&B. In April 1993, he was promoted
to head of account management at the agency after his success running
the Tetley Tea and Daily Express accounts. He later moved to DMB&B’s New
York office before returning to join APL last year. The APL post had
been vacant since Mark Lund left to become managing director of Delaney
Fletcher Bozell in September 1994.
Account management at TBWA Simons Palmer is run by Neil Christie and
Robert Senior. They held the same post at TBWA and Simons Palmer Clemmow
Johnson respectively before the two agencies merged last year.
