TBWA London poaches Delaney Lund's Helen Weisinger

TBWA/London has poached Delaney Lund Knox Warren & Partner's

new-business director, Helen Weisinger, to fill the role left by the

departure of the former marketing director, Karen Boardman.

The swoop for Weisinger comes four months after TBWA edged out DLKW in

the pitch for Hutchison 3G's £30 million account, one of last

year's most closely contested pitches.

TBWA's chief executive, Garry Lace, approached Weisinger last month

after Boardman's decision to leave to spend more time with her

family.

"It's the job of any new-business director to sound out the competition

but in a pitch like that the awareness is much more heightened,"

Weisinger said of the Hutchison contest. "I've had a really great

three-and-a-half years at Delaneys and there aren't many agencies I

would move to, but TBWA is an obvious next step. It's a great agency and

a bigger challenge."

Weisinger joined DLKW as business development director in September 1998

and moved to head new business before being appointed to the agency's

board last year. She was previously an account director on Delta

Airlines in Saatchi & Saatchi's New York office, and had a brief stint

at RPM3 before switching to DLKW.

"We can't wait for Helen to join," Lace said. "She's a great signing.

Her track record at DLKW speaks for itself."

TBWA is expected to continue a new-business drive that accelerated

toward the end of 2001, when the agency was pitching for Lloyds TSB,

Tango and the AA.
