TBWA Simons Palmer has poached a senior board director from Euro

RSCG Wnek Gosper as its new head of account management.

Gary Lace, who was Euro RSCG’s board account director in charge of

Peugeot-Citroen, United Distillers and the Commission for Racial

Equality, will join TBWA at the end of the month.

He succeeds Neil Christie, who was recently promoted to managing

director of TBWA (Campaign, 27 March). Christie said: ’We are delighted

to have prised Gary away. This is excellent news for us.’

Lace has been at Euro RSCG for three years and was promoted to the board

two years ago. He started as a graduate trainee at Saatchi & Saatchi

where he worked on Castlemaine XXXX. From there he went to Young &

Rubicam, working on Courage and HP for 18 months. He then joined Abbott

Mead Vickers BBDO to work on Cellnet and Pizza Hut, also for 18

months.

’This is a big job and gives me the opportunity for some hands-on

management experience,’ Lace said. ’Carl (Johnson, TBWA’s chief

executive) lured me with his vision of what the agency wants to

achieve.’

Lace set up the graduate trainee scheme at Euro RSCG and is chairman of

the Institute of Practitioners in Advertising Society, where he is

involved in training and development.

’Euro is a truly fantastic place,’ Lace added. ’I was not looking for

another job but this opportunity was too good to turn down.’
