Tequila expands its network to include the US and Canada

Tequila, Omnicom's integrated network, is launching in the US and Canada.

The network, which has a presence in 23 countries around the world, including Tequila/London and Tequila/Manchester, is to launch offices in New York, Los Angeles and Toronto.

Tequila's North American operation will be run with Wes Nichols as the president and chief executive. Nichols was previously a founder and managing partner of Direct Partners, the Omnicom-owned US direct marketing agency.

Tequila has done a deal with Direct Partners to take some of its staff to launch in North America.

During his time at Direct Partners, Nichols developed links with other Omnicom operations, including Claydon Heeley Jones Mason. The two agencies formed a partnership last year. Direct Partners will continue to operate as a separate brand in North America.

Tom Wass, the international president at Tequila, said: "The move into the North American market is crucial to the overall development of the Tequila network. We will now have the opportunity to leverage resources from our network in one of the most important markets in the world."
