BBC’s 360-degree view of Rio 2016

The BBC is testing a 360-degree experience for the first time for its coverage of the Olympic Games, which began last Friday. It will be available through the BBC Sport 360 trial app on Android, iOS and Samsung Gear VR.

Viewers can slot their phone into a virtual-reality headset and watch the action live and on-demand.

For those who don’t happen to have a VR headset lying around, the new feature can also be accessed online through BBC Taster. It will cover one event from Rio each day, as well as a daily highlights experience.

The Wired 100

Wired has put together a list of the 100 most influential people in the world. Those featured are at the top of their game in "shaping our culture, the tech economy, consumer behaviour and scientific discovery", and who we should be looking at for inspiration.

Number one is Elon Musk, founder, chief executive and chief technology officer of SpaceX. Others on the list include European commissioner for competition Margrethe Vestager, who launched investigations into Gazprom, Google, Amazon, Starbucks, Fiat and Apple. Snapchat chief executive Evan Spiegel and YouTube sensation PewDiePie also feature.

Radio’s lack of heart

A radio game show on Bauer-owned Key 103 caused "unjustifiable offence", according to Ofcom, after a mother struggling to keep a roof over her head was denied the £2,000 cash prize.

Having been reduced to tears telling listeners of Heartless Hotline how her husband had cheated on her around the same time that her father had died suddenly, a second caller wanting the money for a holiday rang in and claimed the lot.

Ofcom received one complaint and requested a meeting with Bauer to discuss how it approaches live competitions.
