Regional sales house TMH has landed the contract to sell the
national advertising on City TV, a local terrestrial TV channel that is
set to launch next month.
TMH has hired sales director Liam Bantick to run the ten-strong sales
team from this week.

The channel will broadcast programmes until midnight each day, and then
provide text information - including classified advertising - until the
next morning. City TV expects a potential audience reach of 100,000.
City TV plans to launch a series of local stations within the next two
years in Bath, Bridgewater, Bristol, Cheltenham, Exeter, Gloucester and
Stuart Freeman, managing director of TMH, said the company intends to
target national brands that want to advertise locally. National
retailers, cable companies such as NTL and direct-response advertisers
have expressed interest in the station.
Freeman said: ’We already have experience of the Taunton market, having
sold the national advertising on behalf of the weekly newspaper group,
the Taunton Star.’
He added: ’We are attracting national advertisers into local TV and
response from agencies is strong. The new station is not limited in
terms of profile audience. It will interest a wide-ranging audience
living in the area. Local terrestrial TV will become the biggest thing
since local radio.’
TMH represents local newspapers in Cambridge, Hertfordshire, Essex and
Nottingham. It also sells on behalf of Channel 6 in Edinburgh, Channel 9
in Londonderry, Lanarkshire Television, MATV Leicester, Oxford’s Channel
6 and Channel M in Manchester.
TMH also handles TV12, which services the Isle of Wight, Portsmouth and
MATV and Channel 6 Edinburgh are sold jointly with AH Media.
